CMS Bands are devoted to building a tradition of excellence!

Calhoun Middle School is a part of the Calhoun City Schools District in Calhoun, GA. The mission of Calhoun Middle School is to inspire all students to become life-long learners in the pursuit of excellence.The CMS Band Program is recognized within the community. With over 250 students involved, it is one of the largest student groups on the CMS campus. By performing in the band, these students are provided with the opportunity for self-expression, creativity, self-discipline, and achievement.
Meet the DirectorMr. Thomas Osborne is currently serving as the Calhoun Middle School Band Director. He is a Georgia native and currently lives in Silver Creek, Ga. He is a graduate of both Pepperell High School (2013) in Lindale, Ga and Jacksonville State University (2018) in Jacksonville, Al. The 2020-2021 school year will be Mr. Osborne's first year at Calhoun Middle School.
Mr. Osborne graduated from Jacksonville State University with his B.A. in Music Education while also earning the Summa Cum Laude distinction. While at JSU, Mr. Osborne was a member of the JSU Marching Southerners from 2013-2017 and acted as trumpet section leader for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Mr. Osborne was also a member of the JSU Chamber Winds, JSU Jazz 1, JSU Hardcorps Pep Band, and JSU Brass Choir. He has studied conducting under JSU Band Directors Dr. Ken Bodiford and Dr. Jeremy Stovall and has studied trumpet under JSU trumpet professor Dr.Chris Probst. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpa Sinfonia as part of the Epsilon Nu chapter at Jacksonville State and served as the chapter's Vice-President and JSU Band Day Chairman for 2015. Mr. Osborne has also been an active performer with the Roman Festival Brass in Rome, Ga since 2012. A Note From Mr. Osborne --"I am so excited to begin my band directing career here at Calhoun Middle School and I can't wait to work with the wonderful students of the Calhoun community. Band was such an important outlet for me that guided me to be the person I am today. I can only hope that my students will learn as much from band as I did!" In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his friends and family, listen to music, cook, and take care of his cats Tempo and Tetra. |
